Great product - Coby CA-745 Wireless FM Car TransmitterNovember 16, 2008 Small, compact works great! Love the simple design and it is less bulky than the previous one we had. Would reccommend this product to anyone who is looking for a wireless FM car transmitter.
It works, but the FM signal is too weak.November 13, 2008 The device works as described. However, there is a major drawback: the received FM signal is very weak, and I have to turn up the volume of my car radio very high. When I drive on highway, I have to turn up the volume to the full scale. Doing so causes a lot of problems: including high circuit noise and I will hear huge interfere sounds when I touch the buttons of the device.
The radio antenna of my car is in the front. The situation may be improved if the antenna is in the back of the car. I believe that if there are no metal frame/sheets in the path between the device and antenna the received FM signal will be much stronger.
Also, I suspect that other FM car transmitters of this kind would have the same issue in my car: weak received FM signal.
Great productOctober 29, 2008 Don't have a whole lot to say other then the quality is fantastic even with my powerplug being over 3 feet away from my radio. Definitely the best wireless transmitter i've bought so far (had last few stolen or broken) and i really like that there's a plug-in slot on the front to insert your phone charger or an mp3 charger, so you're not giving up your a/c plug just for your transmitter. I will buy another should this one get stolen :-p
Did Not WorkOctober 26, 2008 The CA-745 worked for about 30 seconds & then refused to turn on again. I purchased it because of the price. It also looked cheap - the face was scratched & peeling. I returned it and purchased the Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter for Sansa, which I am very happy with. Also note - The CA-745 has a large unit/plug sticking out from the power outlet in the dashboard, (others like the iTrip are separated by a wire)I could not plug it in or easily access it when my car was in park because the shifter is right in front of the plug in my dashboard (Nissan Pathfinder)
Heartily Endorsed!October 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had been looking for a FM transmitter for my SanDisk Sansa e270 6 GB MP3 Player with SD Expansion Slot (Black) and had looked at some more expensive brands before I settled on this product. I was a little concerned about the quality of the Colby CA-745, but decided to take the plunge and I am happy that I did.
The full range of frequency settings makes it easy to find an empty channel and the backlight is very nice when driving in the dark. Having the adapter, which allows for charging a cell phone or plugging in a radar detector, is also a very nice feature. Like others, I found that I had to turn the volume all the way up on my MP3 player in order to get the signal, but from there, I could turn the volume up or down via my car stereo. The only feature that this transmitter is lacking is the ability to skip to the next song via the stereo controls on my steering wheel (using those controls change the radio station, which makes sense). However, at this price, I can live without that particular feature. Aesthetically speaking, I like that the transmitter has a very similar design to my Sansa.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an FM transmitter.
